Before there was Similar Alien & The Lizard Brains, and even before Similar Alien, an unknown weirdo existed in their bedroom with an ipad, some microphones, and a few handy dandy rock n roll instruments. After a wild adventure on the road filling in on drums for the remains of a broken band, finishing tour dates between Austin Texas and New York City, driving back to California with said remains to record an album, and a failed attempt to move to Austin, they finally landed in Riverside, CA solo. Close enough to home in Paradise to visit often and record songs in their childhood bedroom.

American Alien was born here as a result of late blooming teen angst, a bit of a stoner habit, and a desire to keep making music no matter what. American Alien represented longing for belonging in a fucked up society, accepting our differences, and shining through the bullshit by being yourself, a motha fuckin' alien. We're all aliens really, and realizing this was the next step along the path of self-discovery. This is the origin story of Similar Alien.

These songs were recorded between 2017 and 2018 by me, Jason Wuestefeld aka Similar Alien, on my iPad using Garage Band. American Alien is an homage to my past and the amazing journey that lead me to discover the sound and friendship of Similar Alien & The Lizard Brains.
